Paris-based photographer and filmmaker Kevin Couliau aims to uncover stories that highlight the profound impact of sports on individuals and societies.

A youth immersed in creativity and driven by a passion for basketball and skateboarding helped him develop a sharp understanding of sociology and urban design, which seamlessly influences his photography and films. A key focus of his work is the significant role of basketball courts in urban landscapes and communities, capturing people, details, colors, and structures as living ecosystems in constant change, and documenting their use as vital spaces—recreational areas or refuges from everyday life.

In 2013, he directed and filmed the award-winning documentary Doin' It In The Park (Netflix, PBS, Sundance Channel), exploring the rich history, culture, and global influence of pickup basketball in New York City. Since then, Kevin has traveled to more than 60 countries to explore and document the sport’s culture, establishing himself as a global explorer of the game and showcasing its limitless reach and influence through exhibitions and publications. His talent for capturing stills, motion, and storytelling allows him to undertake a wide range of short and long-form projects, leading to collaborations with major international brands like Nike, Apple, and Hennessy, as well as cultural icons including LeBron James, Billie Eilish, Kobe Bryant, and Barack Obama.

Additionally, he dedicates time throughout the year to Giants Of Africa, a nonprofit organization that uses basketball to educate and empower youth across Africa.
